Log house play day in Yokohama

We're in our final few weeks in Japan and have so many plans to play at all our favorite parks. Well, Mother Nature has had different plans for us. It has rained almost every day for over a month. What to do....what to do....Junko-san to the rescue!!!

On a rainy Sunday afternoon we made our way to the Loghouse play place. There are a few of these around Yokohama, and I think this one is called the Acorn House.

It looks like a normal log house from the outside.

Inside is a child's rainy day oasis!

(Our computer died a couple weeks ago so I'm writing this from a kindle and it's very hard to edit and arrange things. So, apologies for the strange order)

Kenzie entering the basement

When you enter the house the kids take off their shoes and socks then fill out a card with their name and grade. Then, they're off!

Neat rows of shoes in Japan.

It took almost the whole time we were there before Mackenzie worked up the courage to climb the bamboo post.

She also colored a cute picture of Pikachu

The inside of the log cabin was amazing! There was a big room where a group of boys were playing basketball until there were too many kids in the house to safely play anymore.

There are five levels to play on. Garytt spent his time playing tag with Kenta and Isao. He had so much fun running around, up and down stairs, sliding down poles, zooming down slides, and climbing over nets.

Momo was having fun running through the house and helping in the lively game of tag. Mackenzie, Junko and I explored the house and then we spent some time in the library looking at Miyazaki books.

The sign behind Garytt is telling kids not to slide on their butts down the bumpy platform. I have to say, the little boy that was totally ignoring the sign was having a blast bumping down the ramp.

We had such an amazing afternoon at the Acorn House! What an awesome idea to keep kids entertained....take a log house, fill it with slides, stairs, climbing nets, coloring books, library nook, and a basketball mini court.....a kid's dream space!!!
